The noun game

I'm trying out another link up, and this one is called the noun game!

Person:

My silly husband Nick, who has the alter ego of Rick.  My grandpa has a terrible time with names, and whenever he sees Nick he goes through a whole ordeal of "Nick, no Rick, GD it's Nick!"  So Rick has stuck with poor Nick. I have known Nick since I was in the fifth grade, I absolutely hated him until our senior year of high school!  He was the new kid with glasses, who was a total jerk to my BFF in elementary school!  However, during our senior year he became cute and he romantically asked me to our homecoming, by breaking into my locker and placing a cute note and a rose asking me to the dance!  We dated on again off again for most of college, until we decided to be grown ups and be "serious"!  We moved to Florida together after graduating from grad school/college and were engaged 3/11/11 and married 4/28/12.  Nick is my bestie who I tell everything and he supports all that I do and I support all that he does!

My favorite engagement picture!

Place:

Hampton, NH!  My grandparents live in Hampton, a little beach town on the New Hampshire coast.  I have been visiting there with my family since I was a baby.  It is just such  chill and fun beach town.  I was able to take Nick with me a few years ago to really get a New England trip.  We spent the bulk of our trip with my g-rents at their place, but took a super quick train ride into Boston for two days!  It was one of our first "big" trips together and we learned a lot about each other ( I might have cried when I realized our Red Sox tickets were for the night before we made it into to Boston, no worries we scalped some great tickets for 2 times the price the night of :)).

Thing:

My Ipad or Iphone.  I have become such an apple snob.  I must have either my phone or Ipad near me when I am hanging out at home.  I love that I can text my fellow Iphone pals from my Ipad, since my phone is usually close to dead!

Animal:

My sweet puppies; Allie Fieldhouse, Phoggy, and m angle puppy Larry!  Nick and I treat our puppies better than most babies!  They have the best food, toys, and beds.  They are our lives and they take up most of my memory on my phone, computer, and Ipad with their cute little faces!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's ok

- that I am not 100% sure on blogging- is my life even interesting enough?
The last picture I have with me going out with my friends (several weeks ago)

-that I have not done any work over spring break
that would be my work laptop (0%battery life), 4 student files, 4 language and speech evaluations to score, 4 IEPs to write, and 2 evaluation summaries to write ugh!

-that I have spent countless hours watching random shows on Netflix

-that I think my dogs are the perfect birth control

-that I wish this cold weather would go away, or that I was on a beach right now!  Where are you spring?

Starting up again!

I started this blog when my now husband and I first moved to Florida!  I have always enjoyed reading blogs, but have been very hesitant to really do one of my own.  Since I last blogged many things have happened!

1. I got married on 4.28.12 in beautiful St. Pete Beach, FL to my high school sweetheart!

After locking him in for a lifetime of happiness!

Just a quick beach pic before the storm rolled in with our wedding party!

My Dad's side of the family
My mom's side of the family

2. Went on an awesome cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon!

New last name
Best honeymoon/birthday ever!

3. Moved back to Kansas, the day after our honeymoon. Longest drive ever,  I made it through all 3 Hunger Games books on my phone!
Rock Chalk!

4. Started at new job as a Speech-Language Pathologist in an early childhood center!

5.  Adopted a new puppy!
Allie Fieldhouse and Phoggy (the new one)

6. Began house hunting ( hoping to check this off in the next 1-2 months)!!

I am going to give this blog thing a shot again, maybe someone will find it interesting...

Sneak Peek

We had our engagement pictures taken a couple of weekends ago and our awesome photographer has been adding a couple of teasers to his facebook.  The pictures so far have turned out so much better then I thought they would.  Here are the few we have access to so far:
This is by far my favorite one!

I love this picture of Larry with us.

The first take of this, the heart looks more like a potato, but who doesn't love potatoes?

A planning we will go

The planning is going pretty well considering we still 349 days away, who's counting...
Of the checklist so far we have been able to check off:
1. The date
We will be getting married April 28th, 2012

2. The venue
We have chosen to say "I do" at Postcard Inn on the Beach in St. Pete Beach, FL.  Both the ceremony and the recepetion will be held there.  We will have the ceremony on the beach, barefoot, and dance the night away in their super cute ballroom.
How adorable is their lobby?

3. The photographer
The fabulous Brian James (check him out: http://photography.brianjamesgallery.com/portfolio). We are actually having him take our engagement pictures in a couple of weeks and I cannot wait!

4. The officiant
We met with a wonderful pastor this weekend, Pastor Tom Greene, and I am excited for him to share in our special day.

5. The DJ
We are going to with Breezin' Entertainment.  They were on the PCI vender list and then they also happened to be the Bridal Show I went to and they seemed really good.  They also had the best deal to offer us, so we couldn't turn that down. DJing

6. The colors
As of today I think we have our colors pinned down, I should probably keep my mouth shut though, since they have already changed about 4 time, ooops.

I love that I am able to check off some pretty major wedding planning details.  I plan on doing my dress shopping with my mom when I head back to Kansas in June.

All this planning makes me almost wish we were getting married sooner, haha.  I would also like to note the many uses of "we" in this post, every "we" should really read as an "I".  Now Nick has been very supportive, but he likes to think his job is done since he planned out the awesome proposal.  I have not let him off the hook though, he has had to accompany me to every meeting be it the many venue shopping trips, or the one-on-one meetings with the officiant, or the emails with the DJ, he has been by my side with an almost believable "I really want to be here face!"  It stinks planning a wedding far away from my mom, but Nick has ever so kindly stepped up to be the wall I bounce my countless and sometimes ridiculous ideas off of when I am unable to get ahold of my mother on the phone.  I am pumped to go home for a little over a week and really dive into the nitty gritty wedding planning with my mom in a little less than a month!

It's been awhile....

So I thought it was time to update this blog with our big news that has happened since the last time I updated.

On March 12th 2011 Nick tricked me into an overnight beach stay on Anna Maria Island.  We started off the day hanging out on the beach with our KU alum friends, Eric, Lindsey, and Courtney.  Then we went parasailing, which was amazing and nerve wrecking all at the same time.  From about 500 feet about the water we could see downtown St. Petersburg and Sarasota.  After parasailing we headed back to our cottage and got ready for what I thought was to meet up with our friends to watch the Big XII championship; however, that is not what we did.  Instead Nick led me down to the beach where he has secretly set up a sunset beach dinner (with some help).  I was obviously to the entire set up. I saw a couple of photographers and totally thought there was a wedding going on.  Little did I know that Nick was down on  one knee and the photographers were there to capture the entire tearful proposal.  It was such a special night and I can't wait for our April 28, 2012 wedding!

Right as he was proposing- wish I would have know so I would have dressed a bit cuter
Really glad I could be support the Jayhawks at my proposal (only a slight hint of sarcasm)

This is probably my favorite picture from the night.

The photographer was getting fancy with my ring and the coral.
